Black Girl Vitamins is a Chicago based, 100% Black owned wellness brand founded in 2021 after co-founder Maxine Manager learned she was vitamin D deficient and had to fight a healthcare system that rarely looks closely at Black women. She built the company she went looking for: supplements formulated around the deficiencies that actually show up in Black women's bloodwork, backed by Black doctors and health experts. Black Girl Vitamins exists to close a health gap the supplement industry has largely ignored. Studies show a large majority of Black women are vitamin D deficient and Black women are significantly more likely to experience iron deficiency, yet mainstream formulas are rarely built with those realities in mind.
