Real Ingredients. Real Results. Textured Haircare Made Clean.

Haiama Beauty is an eco-luxury haircare line built for Black, Brown, multiracial, and multiethnic moms and their children. Founder Allison Shimamoto started the business after a mainstream curly hair brand permanently straightened her curls and left her hair falling out in the shower in 2019. She spent the next three years nursing her hair back to health with two products she made herself, and those formulas became the foundation of the brand.

The name Haiama, pronounced hi-ah-ma, comes from a small tributary in Guyana where the founder's family is from. That heritage runs through the formulation approach. Rather than adapting formulas originally built for straight textures, Haiama Beauty starts from scratch and prioritizes highly textured hair by using a higher concentration of premium raw botanicals.

The line covers hair and body creams, scalp serums, growth oils, deep conditioners, tea rinse detoxes, tools, and the Leona red light scalp stimulator. Ingredients include sage leaf, fenugreek seed, chamomile flower, cocoa butter, cupuacu, and oils from argan, jojoba, baobab, eucalyptus, rosemary, and tea tree. Formulas are 100 percent natural and organic, non-GMO, and fair trade sourced, and the growth oils are infused for months rather than rushed so the botanicals transfer their full nutrient load.

Everything is handcrafted in Philadelphia at the historic Bok Building, where the founder builds new products directly around customer feedback. The brand has been featured on 6abc Philadelphia and across national press, and it runs its own Length Retention Lab workshops teaching customers how to grow and keep their length.

And For The Community

Haiama Beauty exists because the mainstream natural hair aisle failed the people it claimed to serve. Formulas built for straight textures get relabeled as curly and sold to families with Type 4 hair, sometimes with real damage as the result. Allison Shimamoto lived that outcome and built the alternative, starting fresh with textured hair as the first consideration rather than an afterthought.

The brand's clean standard is a safety commitment, not a marketing one. Products are non-toxic and gentle enough to move between mom and child, covering eczema, cradle cap, dry scalp, and bug bites alongside growth and moisture. That matters for families who have spent years reading labels and still ending up with reactions.

Beyond the products, the brand teaches. The Length Retention Lab and the Littles Lab workshops hand customers the knowledge to care for their own hair and their children's hair, which outlasts any single jar. Haiama Beauty is Black owned and woman owned, handcrafted in small batches in Philadelphia, and rooted in a Guyanese family history the founder set out to make proud.
