Wellness Built for the Bodies the Industry Overlooked
Black Girl Vitamins is a Chicago based, 100% Black owned wellness brand founded in 2021 after co-founder Maxine Manager learned she was vitamin D deficient and found herself navigating a healthcare system that rarely looks closely at Black women. She could not find a supplement line built around what her bloodwork actually showed, so she built one.
BGV formulates around the deficiencies that show up most often in Black women, working with a team of Black doctors and health experts. Roughly 82% of Black women are vitamin D deficient, and Black women are about three times more likely to experience anemia, yet mainstream formulas rarely account for either. Every product is gluten free, soy free, and non-GMO, made without colorants or synthetic fillers, and gentle on the stomach.
The range spans gummies, capsules, and powders across collagen, magnesium, sea moss, gut health, prenatal, cholesterol, and menopause support, starting at $25 for a one month supply. Education comes with it. BGV teaches customers what each deficiency means and why it matters, because knowing your own health needs is the first step to meeting them.

Black Girl Vitamins exists to close a health gap the supplement industry has largely ignored. Most formulas are built on data that never centered Black women, leaving the deficiencies that affect them most sitting untreated. BGV formulates for those specific gaps, works with Black doctors and health experts on every product, and pairs each one with plain language education so customers understand what they are taking and why.
The commitment extends past the bottle. BGV launched a $100,000 scholarship fund supporting Black women pursuing careers in medicine, addressing the physician representation gap that drives so many of these disparities in the first place.
